Link Between Vaccinations And Heart Disease In Cavaliers? |

Iím being presumptious, seeing I stay in Scotland, but through our love for our Cavalier breed, could I share this thought with you. I think a number of you will know of my interest in collecting the ages of long living Cavaliers. May I say I am not anti-vaccination, but a good number of Cavaliers here in Britain, already with heart trouble, have within a month from having their vaccinations, have had a deterioration in their heart condition and theyíd died shortly afterwards. Over the years, Iíve checked with many owners of the long living Cavaliers and theyíve mentioned that theyíd only vaccinated their Cavaliers as puppies but not regularly afterwards. A report has recently been published here in Britain from the Animal Health Trust, who have been researching into the heart disease in our Breed. One of the comments made was that the frequency of the heart disease in the screened Cavaliers, the figures although high, are lower than those reported and may reflect a greater involvement of breeders with relatively healthy lives in this scheme, but could another reason be that like some of the long living Cavaliers, they werenít being so regularly vaccinated. Could it be possible that the recommendations to vets in America for vaccinations to be now given at a 3 yearly intervals could be of a benefit for our Cavaliers, especially for those with heart trouble?
BENEFITS OF VITAMIN E?
Through the Golden Oldies ages that Iíve collected, Iíve found out that a number of Cavalier Breeders gave their in-whelp bitches Vitamin E. Many of the offsprings from them lived onto a normal old age, now Iíve read that in America cardiologists are recommending Cavalier owners to give their Cavaliers Vitamin E to forestall heart disease and help the immune system, since some thoughts have now been expressed here in Britain that some Cavalier heart trouble could be immune-related. Could the advice to use Vitamin E be useful for all Cavalier owners?
